MX Missile Bio

MX missile has been performing progressive instrumental music in western Canada, and local Calgary venues since mid 2006. The buzz around MX Missile has spread by the many who have seen their multi-genre performances where they’ve seamlessly improvised reggae, house, trance and rock into lengthy sets that have lasted late into the night.

2006/07 saw MX Missile debut their live act in Calgary venues The Soda, Verns, The Distillery, The Stetson, The Thirsty Dog and The Palomino.

Since then, MX Missile has focused their efforts on bringing this eclectic energy into a more cohesive set of studio tracks. This studio effort has resulted in a live show with solid music that has been described as “ear candy with complex melodies and great groove”

In spring 2008 MX Missile released their first ep titled "Live at the Stetson". This live album showcases the bands energetic and eclectic live performance at The Stetson in March 2008.

In June 2008 MX Missile introduced their live act to venues in Winnipeg and Toronto as they embarked on their first cross Canada tour.

As of early 2008, several tracks have been completed and several more are in the works for their debut studio release. This ep is expected to be released in fall of 2008.

The Players

What do you get when you combine driving metal/groove bass, a punk guitarist who delves into the techno world, an experienced blues/jazz/metal guitarist and a drummer enamoured with house and trance music?

Guest players have included break beat djs (DJ Loke), Lap Steel players, and MC's.

Rocco has been touring with various acts across North America. Victor has played for a wide variety of electronic, heavy metal, jazz bands and his own freeform experimental solo acts while living in Toronto. Victor has many connections to the house & trance scene in T.O. and was the drummer for an improvisational latin jazz/house duo with Jason Fung before moving to Calgary. Victor also plays in the Flamenco Funk band Los Morenos and with award winning Hip Hop artists Kray<Z>Kree & Curt Young.

Jason is an improvisational jazz guitarist and is a session musician around Calgary. Jason has recorded on commercially produced jazz albums including his own jazz fusion act The Jason Kendall Trio. Jason plays guitar and bass for several other gigging Calgary bands and has hosted different jazz jams around Calgary. Jason is also a talented bass player and banjo player.

Greg plays guitar, keys and electronics in the band. Greg has recorded and gigged with several Calgary bands and continues as a primary songwriter for the Calgary punk band Steinhoister. Greg is also responsible for producing and recording MX Missile.

Brett has a long history of experimental jamming in Calgary's musical community and enjoys writing, playing, and watching live music that spans several genres. With his voracious love of groove and punk/metal rhythmns, he has played and been in bands with many of the musicians that have graced Calgary’s stages over the last decade and a half. Brett is also a primary writer for the punk band Steinhoister.
